SKIN REJUVENATION
Trauma to the skin causes skin rejuvenation. Immediately after injury blood flow to the area increases which activate fibroblast cells stimulating them to lay down collagen cells. The fibroblast cells spread inward towards the trauma site leaving behind collagen and elastin cells.
Increased levels of type 3 collagen: fibroblast cells continues to produce collagen for several weeks after trauma, they also begin the process of collagen alignment and cross linking which reduces fine lines and wrinkles. The most important part of the inflammatory response is the release of growth factors, which send a chemical message to the skin resulting in the laying down of new collagen strands.
It takes 3 months for type 3 collagen (new collagen) to turn into type 1 collagen (strengthens skin and connective tissues).
